Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were steady to 2.00 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. Demand was good on a moderate supply of slaughter animals and bred cows and a light supply of pairs. Replacement receipts were lighter than normal as many are waiting to bring bred cows and pairs to the Special Cow Sale on Saturday. Moisture conditions continue to be an issue across the area with a couple of counties classified as severe drought with more expected to be added when data is released Thursday. Some producers have started feeding hay and have concerns with the availability of water in ponds and streams.
