Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to 2.00 higher. Demand was good on a light supply of slaughter animals and a moderate supply of replacement cattle. The top slaughter bull sold for 228.00/cwt. and the top slaughter cow sold for 173.00/cwt. The top bred cows brought 2,900.00/head while the top pairs brought 3,800.00/pair. The USDA's Cold Storage Report was released today and reported the total pounds of beef in freezers were down 3 percent from the previous month and down 1 percent from last year.
