Callaway Livestock Center held their monthly Bred Cow and Pairs sale Thursday evening, with several consignments of good quality pairs mostly 3-6 yrs with 150-350 lb calves and several consignments of young bred cows 3-5 yrs of age in the 2nd and 3rd stage all selling with moderate to good demand. Bulk of the replacement cows sold were at the auction because of dry conditions in the trade area with short pastures and looking at a short hay crop. Many bred cows mostly in the 2nd stage were weighed up going to the packers with a very aggressive slaughter cow market.
