Compared to two weeks ago, steer calves weighing 400-500 lbs trading steady to firm with steer calves weighing 500-600 lbs and heifer calves weighing 400-600 lbs sold mostly 10.00-20.00 higher, instances 25.00 higher on the 5 weight heifers with 600-700 lb steers trading fully steady to firm with spots 5.00 higher, and yearling steers over 700 lbs all sold with a higher undertone as did the 6 weight heifers. Demand was very good on a moderate offering with overall quality really good on the calves and yearlings as feeder cattle sold with very good weighing conditions coming thru last week's extreme cold and snow all sold on an active market. Stick out sales included 100 hd of 536 lb steers at 535.00, 73 steers 625 lbs at 464.00, 63 steers thin 713 lbs at 424.00, 75 steers thin 753 lbs at 401.50 and 60 steers weighing 852 lbs at 366.50. CME Feeder Cattle futures all closed with sharp gains Monday with March up 6.07, April up 5.90 and May up 5.22 after Friday's Cattle Inventory Report was released showing all cattle and calves as of January 1 totaling 86.2 million head slightly below the 86.5 million head estimated. Slaughter cows sold 3.00-7.00 higher on a light test.
