Compared to last week, steer calves under 600 lbs all traded with a firm to higher undertone on last week's light offering, 600-650 lbs sold firm to 5.00 higher, with several groups of 750-800 lb steers selling firm to 3.00 higher. Feeder heifers all sold with a sharply higher undertone on last week's light test of heifers. Last week's bulk offering was mostly made up of pot loads of 600-960 lb steers. Demand was very good on a light to moderate supply, with overall quality also very good as calves and yearlings all sold on and active market. Feeder Cattle futures all had sharp gains with the front three months closing 435 to 447 higher. Several stick out sales included 30 hd of 626 lb steers and 24 hd 627 lb steers selling at 343.00-344.00, 41 hd of fancy 542 lb heifers at 356.50 and 15 hd weighing 521 lbs at 369.00, 40 hd of heifers weighing 615 lbs at 309.00. Slaughter steers and heifers on a nice offering sold with a higher undertone, with slaughter cows trading 5.00-12.00 higher on a very active market.
