Compared to last week's light test, a light test of 400-500 lb steers sold with a lower undertone, 500-550 lb steers sold weak to 5.00 lower, with 6 weight steers and a pot load of 765 lb steers trading steady. Feeder heifers on a good offering were not well tested but sold with a firm to higher undertone, with a large string and several smaller strings of good quality black 500-525 lb heifers with good weighing conditions selling with very good demand along with 5 pot loads of yearling heifers. Demand was moderate to good with supply moderate to heavy. Slaughter cows traded 4.00-8.00 lower on mostly boning and lean cows. CME cattle futures tried to climb back into the green but closed slightly lower on Monday. Buyers for the most part were active, especially on the green heifer calves and yearlings on and overall nice offering of cattle.
