Not enough comparable feeders last week for a market comparison. However a higher undertone was noted. Slaughter cows sold 2.00 to 3.00 higher and bulls sold steady. Demand was good. Few, more feeders and cow/pairs hitting the market due to the drought in the state. Cattlemen are starting to cut numbers on cow/calf pairs and late bred cows along with would be grass yearlings are getting sold. Tough situation many ranchers are facing these days on what to keep and what to sell due to the lingering drought. Irrigation water will be very tight this growing season and that will limit the tons of feed that will be produced for livestock to consume.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
