Compared to last week steer calves sold steady to 5.00 higher with yearling weight steers trading 10.00 higher. Most of the heifers calves sold sharply higher with most weights 20.00 higher. Yearling heifers sold sold steady. Bulk of the weigh-up cows went back to the country for feeding and or rebreeding and those sold steady to 3.00 higher and slaughter bulls sold 4.00 higher. Demand was good to very good. Some heifers were tagged as replacements with several others not tag could be getting grown into a replacement heifer. Producers need to replace "x" amount of cows a year to keep numbers in check but are producers looking to expand? Western half of Wyoming is rather dry and has had recent fires that may keep some ranchers from expanding numbers. But, time will tell.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Wyoming barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
