Compared to last week steer calves less than 500 lbs sold sharply higher, 500 to 800 lbs sold 5.00 to 8.00 higher and over 800 lbs sold unevenly steady on a light test. Light weight heifer calves followed the same trend as their steer mates, sharply higher on the week. Over 500 lbs sold steady to 5.00 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls sold mostly steady except breaker cows sold 8.00 to 10.00 lower. With a lot of cows going back to feed or make rebreeds from the younger looking cows. Bred heifers and cows sold with a higher undertone than previous week. Demand was good for calves, feeders and bred stock with moderate to good demand for slaughter cattle. With rain in the Southern Plains, wheat fields are starting to grow and the producers that graze out wheat have picked up the pace in buying light weight cattle to fill these pastures. This increased demand has really helped the light calf market in a big area of the Northern Plains.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Wyoming barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
