Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers unevenly steady. Very good demand across all weights and classes this week, especially so as cash fed cattle reached a new historic high price of 260.00, yet the futures contracts went the opposite direction for the last two days of the week, leaving cattle feeders feeling a little uneasy. Drought conditions are a major concern as spring rains have been limited, some heifers that were being held back for breeding are having to come to town as ranchers are looking to conserve grass. Corn planting is winding down quickly as dry weather made for much progress, rain is needed in those areas as well.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the South Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
