Not enough auctions last week to compare with as there was only 1 reported auction the previous week, however a sharply higher market is noted this week. Good to very good demand as attractive cattle were met with aggressive buyers in the crowd. A few more consignments of weaned calves but most of the offering was still off the cow. Flesh varied, from moderate to heavy with some fill at times. Some consignments had full preconditioning, but many had just a round of fall shots. A positive week for the CME Cattle Complex giving buyers more optimism after the spring Feeder futures were 15.00 to 16.00 higher for the week. Nearby Live cattle was 11.575 higher on the week and cash feedlot trade was reported up to 225.00 this week. Cold and snowy weather has arrived and put some stress on these calves, especially those still competing with cows for feed.
