Compared to last week: Too few feeder steers and heifers offered this week to make full, complete price comparisons as winter storm at midweek caused consignments and auctions to cancel. Lower undertones compared to last week's much larger receipts. A large storm system moved across the region bringing rain and snow, which made it difficult to haul cattle and some auction markets cancelled their sales because of it, other auction markets had much lighter receipts. There was pressure in the market with outside market influences, cash fed cattle were able to reach 215.00 on Thursday but were lower at 210.00-213.00 by Friday. Cattle feeders remain very bullish but with the futures under so much pressure it carried over into the cash market. Good moisture was received in places that were very dry, which was desperately needed as the growing season is beginning. Much larger auction receipts expected this next week as auction markets get back to their regular sale schedules.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the South Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
