Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers steady to 5.00 higher. Demand was very good for feeder cattle this week and the market was very active. Cattle feeders are feeling very bullish and are willing to chase the market to get yearlings bought when they are offered. Feeder cattle offerings remain sporadic as many locations are operating on their summer schedules, but when there are strings of yearlings in town the market gets wild. The cash fed cattle market was lower, but still many dollars higher than the front month of the Live Cattle futures which is helping to support the feeder market at these levels. New crop corn futures around the 6.00 mark is also giving support to the feeder market, which is nearly 2.00 lower than the highs seen for old crop corn. Slaughter cows uneven, Breaker and Boners 3.00 to 5.00 lower, bulls steady.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the South Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
