South Dakota Weekly Cattle Auction Summary

Mon Aug 19, 2019
USDA Livestock, Poultry & Grain Market News · Federal-State Market News Service, Sioux Falls, SD (LS-SF)
Receipts 846Last week 439Year ago 0

Compared to last week: No reported feeder cattle auctions this week as receipts were very limited after the steep decline in the cattle futures and fed cattle markets last week. Feeder cattle producers were unwilling to consign their cattle at auction as the futures contracts have been extremely volatile. Cattle feeders were able to sell some cattle higher this week but still dollars behind where the market was two weeks ago. Demand for feeder cattle is moderate as cattle buyers are very wary of buying cattle that will not have a realistic breakeven price. Slaughter cows and bulls steady to firm.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
