Compared to last week: Feeder steers 4.00-8.00 higher. Feeder heifers unevenly steady. Steer calves 12.00-16.00 lower. Heifer calves 3.00-9.00 higher. Slaughter cows 6.00-11.00 lower. Slaughter bulls 2.00 lower. Once again this week, futures volatility persisted, and the cash market really didn't know what to do. One of the major slaughter cow buyers has pulled out of the market last week, leaving a void in the market and sending slaughter cow prices sharply lower. Just for a comparison, the Oklahoma Weekly Summary on October 17th showed 7 weight steers averaging 4.01. Today the summary has 550 weight steers averaging the same 4.01.
