Compared to last week, yearling steers from 700 to 900 lbs sold 13.00 to 20.00 higher, 9 weights sold 2.00 higher and over 1000 lbs sold 10.00 to 15.00 higher. Yearling heifers from 700 to 800 lbs sold 20.00 higher over 800 lbs sold steady to 2.00 higher. Demand was good to very good for all offerings with most coming off summer grass. Early estimates for the monthly cattle on feed report and the annual cattle inventory report must have spurred buyers to step out and bid more aggressively than previous weeks to fill orders. Cattle on feed came in at 98% with estimate at 99%, Placed in June was 92% with estimate at 98%, Marketed 96% and estimated at 96%. Little bullish for the industry. Feedlot trade took all week to get rolling. Even with the high heat index, high cattle feeders blew off the packers until Friday. Dressed sales traded at 380.00 and lives sales from 240.00 to 245.00.
