Compared to last week steers under 600 lbs sold 10.00 higher, over 600 lbs sold steady to 3.00 higher. Heifers less than 500 lbs sold 6.00 higher, over 500 lbs sold unevenly steady. Demand was good to very good for light weigh calves and feeder cattle. Some cattle continue to go to other states for grass or to the feedlot. Some 5 weight cattle that could be turned out are heading to the feeding pens for close to the next year. Most sales started out on a fast track and ended the sale in the same manner. Many buyers jumped out on the packages and then really kicked the bidding up when the load lots hit the ring. Internet buying was active throughout the week. The CME cattle boards were sharply higher on the Friday encouraging cattlemen things could be better down the road. Feedlot trade was mix for the week with live sales steady to 1.50 higher from 183.00 to 184.00 and dressed sales sold 2.00 lower at 290.00.
