Feeder CattleReceipts 43,926Last week 20,049Year ago 43,979
Replacement CattleReceipts 857Last week 2,340Year ago 1,520

Compared to last week steers sold steady to 2.00 higher. Heifers under 700 lbs sold steady and over 700 lbs sold 3.00 to 7.00 higher a thin test. Demand was good. Heavy supply of receipts. Looking back to last year's heavy receipts about the same heavy snow and cold cancelled sales so the following week had a large volume. This week the big supply of cattle was sought after from buyers in the southern plains with loads of cattle heading to graze fast growing wheat fields. On average a 526 lbs steer is costing around 220.00 per head less than an 825 lbs steer this week. Cattlemen are hoping for the cheap gain on wheat to help turn a profit in these grazing cattle. Nebraska feedlots sold live sales 2.00 to 4.00 higher from 175.00 to 177.00 and dressed sales sold 3.00 to 4.00 higher at 277.00. Warming trend across the state with some daytime highs in the 50's. Muddy conditions will prevail in many areas but the moisture might soak in for springtime forages to grow.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Nebraska barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
