Compared to last week steers and heifers sold 1.00 to 5.00 lower. Most of the decline in the marker was late in the week as an artic blast of cold air and snow blew into the region. Most sales after Wednesday had sharply reduced receipts and buyer attendance. Some buyers opted to purchase cattle over the internet. Many prospective buyers opted to pull bids as temps were below zero and windchills over 30 below zero. Eastern part of the state received over 12" of snow with high winds closing major roads for several days. Feedlot live sales sold steady to 2.00 lower and dressed sales sold .50 to 2.00 lower from 272.00 to 275.00. Many packers had to push scheduled cattle back a week due to reduced kills from mostly weather-related issues.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Nebraska barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
