Compared to last week calves under 500 lbs sold 3.00 lower, 500 to 700 lbs sold 7.00 to 10.00 lower and over 700 lbs sold 6.00 to 8.00 lower. Heifer calves under 700 lbs sold 7.00 to 10.00 lower, 700 to 800 lbs sold 7.00 lower, 800 weight yearling sold steady on a thin test. Demand was light to good depending on the weight, the type, vaccination and what the order called for. Sharp losses throughout the week on the CME cattle boards recked havoc across the state at all auctions taking valuable money away from the producer that sells one time a year. Feedlot trade live sales sold 3.50 lower at 181.50 and dressed sales sold 5.00 lower at 287.00. Some farmers continue to struggle combining corn as dry down has been very slow. Some reports to this office corn is still in the 18 to 20 percent moisture range in the central parts of the state. Corn planted after May 1 with a fairly long mature season has been the corn drying the slowest.
