Compared to last week steers under 600 lbs sold unevenly steady, 600-800 lbs sold 6.00 lower and over 800 lbs sold steady to 2.00 lower. Heifers under 600 lbs sold 10.00 higher, 600 to 800 lbs 1.00 to 5.00 higher and over 800 lbs steady. Demand was good throughout the week. Some buyers purchased several loads of cattle at one time to help back fill empty pens. Cost of gain still well over a dollar but that hasn't backed off bids from prospective buyers. Spotty rain showers continue across most of the western 2/3rd of the state. Very spotty rain showers continue in the eastern 1/3 of the state helping dryland crops to hang on. Many farmer/feeders hope the corn crop in the east will be good enough to at least chop for silage.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
