Compared to last week, medium fleshed steers under 600 lbs sold 3.00 to 4.00 lower, with weights over 600 lbs mostly steady. Light weight heifers under 500 lbs sold 10.00 higher with all other weights of heifers steady. Even though most of the weights of cattle sold steady with last week, overall demand was better than last week. Looking at the report there are several lots of thin fleshed or fancy steers and heifers that sold dollars higher than the bulk of the cattle in those weight groups. Several farmer/feeders were in attendance at area auctions bidding for light weight grass cattle and feedlot replacement cattle along with normal crowd of order buyers. Not many feed lot sales as of Friday morning as most feed lot managers are holding for steady money with last week. Pens should be a little better this week but tag continues to be a problem across the state. Excess tag is causing some lots of cattle dressing percent to be below par of 63%.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Nebraska barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
