Not enough comparable offerings from last week for a adequate market comparison. Demand was good for the short supply of calves and feeder cattle on offer. Good to instances very good demand was noted for replacement cattle. Receipts were shortened this week after rain and blizzard conditions blew across the central part of the state last weekend. Some areas received an inch or more of rain and up to 18 inches of heavy wet snow with winds blowing up to 45 mph. Cattle that made there way to the last sale of the decade on Tuesday show signs of the adverse pen conditions as some lots showed excess tag taking away from the cattle eye appeal. Also, most of the winter has been rather mild until last week, and some lots of weaned calves showed a tick more flesh than some buyers were looking for. Feedlot trade at a standstill as of the writing of this report but packers are bidding more dollars than the bulk of last weeks dressed market. An upward movement in the market for the first week of the new decade will be welcomed by all sellers.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Nebraska barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
