Compared to last week steers under 700 lbs sold steady to 3.00 higher, over 700 lbs sold 2.00 to 4.00 higher. Heifers under 700 lbs sold mostly 4.00 higher, over 700 lbs sold unevenly steady. Demand was good for the last full week of feeder cattle sales. The Christmas and New Years holidays are right around the corner and there will be limited sales the next two weeks. So, many buyers came out this week to procured weaned and bawling calves the added demand help push the calves and feeder cattle market higher. Some of the light weight calves are heading south for wheat grazing with others getting kicked out on stock fields or headed to background yards. Feedlot trade for the week saw an upward tick with dressed sales 2.00 higher at 192.00 and live sales steady to 1.00 higher from 120.00-121.00. Most hay prices remain steady this month with light to moderate demand for local sales. If the winter remains mostly open and not much additional snow it should keep demand light to moderate for instate usage.
