Compared to last week, steer calves under 500 lbs sold 6.00 higher, 500 to 700 lbs sold mostly steady, over 700 lbs sold steady to 3.00 lower. Heifer calves sold under 600 lbs sold 2.00 to 3.00 higher with weights over 600 lbs trending unevenly steady for the week. Demand was light to good throughout the week for calves and good for yearling feeders. Bulk of the cattle under 600 lbs were bawling calves some had comments as un-weaned and others with no comments. But it is safe to assume bulk of those non commented lighter weight calves were right off the cow. As the weather continues a roller coaster ride this fall, buyers are seeking calves with fall shot program. Hoping, these cattle that have been vaccinated at least three weeks before shipment will take off at their new home and wean with very little problems. Feedlots sold some cattle on Thursday at 181.00 to 182.00, 1.00 to 2.00 higher than last week on a thin test.
