Compared to last week steers under 600 lbs sold 3.00 to 4.00 higher, 700 to 900 lbs sold steady and over 900 lbs sold 3.00 lower. Heifers under 600 lbs sold unevenly steady, 700 to 900 lbs sold 1.00 to 3.00 higher and over 900 lbs 2.00 lower. Demand was moderate to good. Some buyers backed up bids this week as feedlot pens have been in poor shape most of the summer from excess rains. Feedlots are hoping pens can dry and be cleaned before fall shipments arrive. Once, again feedlot trade is very slow to get going on the week. So, far through Thursday, live sales have sold from 100.00-104.00 and dressed sales from 160.00 to 170.00. Large ranges once again as packers are filling slots for the last full week of September. Some silage choppers have fired up this week and have begun playing in the muddy fields and have been testing the patience of all operators of equipment. Good thing feedlots or custom choppers have front wheel assist tractors to aid in pushing or pulling trucks through the wet fields. Few, choppers have old time silage wagons but there have been a few spotted this week.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Nebraska barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
