Compared to last week steer calves under 600 lbs sold sharply lower on a thin test. Over 600 lbs sold 4.00 lower, 700-800 lbs sold 1.00 to 3.00 higher with 900 lbs trading 3.00 lower. Bulk of the heifers sold 3.00 lower on the week. Just starting to see a few bawling calves hit the market and some buyers are not quite ready to wean a part load or small packages of calves. The bulk of the supply was fall calves and yearling cattle with some out of grow yards and some off of lush summer grass. Demand was moderate to good for most classes of cattle, Most areas of the state received moderate to heavy rain this week along some hail that wiped out crops and pastures in its path. Feedlot sales slow to kick off this week a few dressed sales at 175.00-176.00 with a few at 178.00 and live sales at 108.00 at press time. Early live sales are 2.00-3.00 higher and dressed sales 5.00 higher than the weighted average released on last Friday. Kick off of the 150 year of the Nebraska State Fair this weekend and will run through Labor Day. Make your way out to look at the attractions and the projects that livestock owners, horsemen and youth have spent endless hours on so they can participate at this show!
