Compared to last week, steers sold 3.00 to 10.00 lower except a flat 700 lbs sold steady. On the heifers most lots sold 3.00 to 6.00 lower with flat 600 lbs 3.00 higher and 800 weights 10.00 lower. Demand was moderate for feeder cattle with good demand for cow/calf pairs. As the CME cattle pits continue to struggle in gaining ground this week, many buyers are scratching there heads trying to figure out where they can procure cattle to make it in the black when they close a pen out. Wet and cool weather has continued to delay corn planting across the state. Per NASS week ending May 5th corn planting was 35 % complete compared to 38% last year and 47 % for the 5 year average. But, with large equipment and a few really nice days acres planted can surge overnight. Feedlot trade occurred mostly on Wednesday with live sales dropping 3.00 to 4.00 lower from 120.00-121.00 and dressed sales 4.00 to 6.00 lower from 189.00 to 194.00. Some of the lower prices on the dressed trades are for 15-30 day shipment.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Nebraska barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
