Compared to last week: Steer and heifer calves 15.00 to 30.00 higher. Very good demand for steer and heifer calves this week as the early part of the week the futures contracts were supportive of the cash, market, that changed by Thursday as limit losses occurred in the Feeder Cattle contracts. Cattle producers have had a very difficult time making decisions concerning the market as the futures contracts are fluctuating wildly. The sound market fundamentals that propelled the market to record high prices, is now being overshadowed by uncertainty and fear as the futures contracts decline rapidly. Cash fat cattle were lower again as packers point to a lower futures market and bid accordingly. Cash fat cattle sales in Iowa by Friday were all the way down to 218.00, which is par with the Dec Live Cattle contract.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the North Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
