North Dakota Weekly Cattle Auction Summary

Mon Dec 5, 2022

Receipts 10,422Last week 15,937Year ago 9,404

Compared to last week: Steer calves under 500 lbs 4.00 to 5.00 higher, over 500 lbs steady to 3.00 lower. Heifer calves under 500 lbs 4.00 to 8.00 higher, over 500 lbs 1.00 to 3.00 lower. Moderate to good demand for steer and heifer calves this week yet there was some pressure on the market primarily due to the difference in flesh condition versus last week. This week featured many weaned calves, the flesh condition on these cattle was much heavier than has been seen in recent week and buyers are reluctant to give as much for a fleshy calf as they had to give for a good green one last week. The cash fed cattle market softened this week, many at 156.00 but still there exists a great amount of optimism for the coming months.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the North Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
