Receipts 19,883Last week 6,602Year ago 13,695

Compared to last week: Feeder steers under 700 lbs 4.00 to 8.00 higher, except 650-700 lbs 2.00 lower, over 700 lbs steady to 3.00 higher. Feeder heifers 2.00 to 5.00 higher, except 750-800 lbs steady to 1.00 lower. Very good demand for all weights of steers and heifers after last week's lighter offering due to the bitter, dangerously cold temps. This week's temps were 50-60 degrees higher than last week and feeder cattle producers were quick to act to get their stock loaded and shipped to town. Extremely large auction receipts were the result but there were plenty of buyers who were ready to buy these high quality cattle. Flesh condition was light to moderate overall, especially as the weather was so cold recently which makes it harder for cattle to maintain their body condition. The demand for light weight and fleshed cattle to make yearlings was red hot as yearling operators are looking at Feeder Cattle futures contracts at 180.00 for the fall and they want to capitalize on that opportunity.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the North Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
