North Dakota Weekly Cattle Auction Summary

Mon Dec 14, 2020
USDA Livestock, Poultry & Grain Market News · Federal-State Market News Service, Bismarck, ND (LS-BM)
Receipts 11,233Last week 11,341Year ago 12,738

Compared to last week: Steer calves under 550 lbs unevenly steady, over 550 lbs 3.00 to 7.00 higher, heifer calves steady to 3.00 higher, except 600-650 lbs 4.00 lower. Good demand for steer and heifer calves. Many longtime weaned calves in the offering, which are highly desirable and they look very appealing as the cattle are clean, bloomy and shiny. The weather remains very mild and open, much warmer than normal which is allowing cattle producers to keep their cattle at home growing and gaining easiliy. Cash fed cattle market continues to disappoint as early week sales were lower and CME Live Cattle contracts for Dec remain below 110.00. Very large auction receipts expected when feeder cattle sales resume after the start of the new year.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the North Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
