Compared to last week: Only 1 auction a week ago to compare with this week, an accurate price comparison can not be made. Demand was rather good this week after the reports of much higher fat cattle early in the week. The CME cattle futures fluctuated wildly making limit lower moves one day and then limit higher the next. The best demand remains on the light calves that are suitable for backgrounding. The backgrounded cattle being sold now find much fewer outlets as many cattle feeders have market ready fat cattle but can't get a bid.
