Compared to last week: A light offering of feeder cattle, too few to make a good, complete comparison however a higher undertone was noted. Demand moderate this week, helped along by good gains in the futures contracts on Wednesday and Thursday. Cattle producers that have to sell their feeder cattle are doing so while other producers are delaying as long as they can. With calving time upon us many operators don't have the manpower or the pen space to calve cows and feed last year's calves. Cash fed cattle were lower again this week but still more than 10.00 premium to April Live Cattle futures. Cattle feeders are anxious about the current and coming months of the fed cattle market as the futures for the summer months are in the 80.00 range which will mean large financial losses. As the futures contracts swing wildly from day to day cattle producers are left reeling and unsure of how to proceed.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the North Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
