Compared to last week: Feeder steers 3.00 to 6.00 higher, feeder heifers under 700 lbs 3.00 to 5.00 higher, over 700 lbs steady to 2.00 higher. Good to very good demand this week, best demand remains on those light fleshed steers and heifers under 600 lbs that can be roughed through the winter and turned out on grass this summer and sold as a yearling in the fall. Good demand also for a replacement quality heifer as many of those were offered. The CME cattle futures finally found a bottom and posted a rally on Friday last week. A dark cloud had been hanging over the market due to the bearish picture the futures contracts had painted for the coming months in the cash fed cattle market. This rally was just what the cattle feeder needed to give them a little confidence that the market will improve. As the weather warmed this week cattle producers got their stock gathered and shipped to town which resulted in large sales this week.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the North Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
