Compared to last week: Steer calves under 600 lbs 5.00 to 10.00 higher, over 600 lbs 3.00 to 4.00 lower. Heifer calves 1.00 to 4.00 higher, except 400-450 lbs 10.00 higher. Yearling steers and heifers not well tested for comparison. Moderate to good demand for calves, a good offering of calves in town as cattle producers are able to get cattle gathered and shipped to town as the ground has firmed up. Producers are still struggling with grain harvest, and have rightly focused on that task as winter has come early and not as concerned with selling calves if they have the wherewithal to wean and sell later. The calf market has gotten higher but it is still much lower than last year which is also causing some producers to balk at selling yet.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the North Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
