Compared to last week: Too few yearling feeder steers and heifers last week to offer a comparison with this week. Steer and heifer calves not tested last week for comparison. Very good demand for yearlings as the cash fed cattle market rose and the futures contracts followed. Light demand for calves as few farmer feeders are willing to receive a calf yet as harvest has barely begun and now feedyard pens are in terrible muddy condition. Many consignment cancellations this week after last week's snowstorm that dumped 20-30 inches of snow that was accompanied by 50 mph winds. The snow has begun melting away already but ground conditions are extremely muddy making it impossible for many cattle producers to get cattle loaded and hauled out. Larger receipts expected next week if ground conditions are firm enough.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the North Dakota barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
