Compared to last week: Steer calves weighing 400-599 lbs sold mostly steady to 3.00 higher, steers 600-799 lbs sold mostly steady to 3.00

lower, heavier weights of steers were too lightly tested to develop an accurate market trend, however lower undertones were noticed.

Feeder heifers 450-699 lbs sold mostly steady to 4.00 higher. All other weights of heifers were not well compared. Quality this last session

was mostly attractive to very attractive. Many long strings of one iron home raised calves were on offer. Many of these cattle were developed

for grass and marketed that way. Despite sharply lower CME contract prices buyers showed good to very good demand for all cattle suitable

to develop into yearlings. Feedlot ready cattle sold on mostly light demand this week as nearby CME contract prices have sold off significantly.

Market activity was mostly active this week. Weigh up cows sold on mostly light to moderate demand and offerings. Packers were aggressive

early in the week in purchasing cows for harvest, however by mid week demand was mostly light and packers opted to send the majority of

the cow offering to feed. Slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00 lower on all classes. Feeding cows sold on mostly moderated demand this week

as independent feeding buyers competed with packers over offerings. Feeding cows were too lightly tested last week to develop any market

trend. Slaughter bulls sold mostly steady. Young age cows suitable to feed or re-breed sold 5.00-8.00 lower led mostly by lighter demand from

feeding buyers. Additionally, a larger portion of the offering were wet bagged cows which lost calves this week. Quality was mixed from plain

to attractive.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Montana barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
