Compared to last week: Yearling steers and heifers were too lightly tested to develop any market trend. Steer calves under 500 lbs were too

lightly tested to develop an accurate market trend, however lower undertones were noticed. Steer calves 500-649 lbs steers sold mostly

steady to 10.00 higher. Heifers weighing 400-649 sold unevenly steady in a narrow comparison. Quality this week was mixed from plain to

attractive. Demand for feeders was mostly moderate this week on light offerings. Calves on offer were mostly weaned. Market activity was

mostly moderate. Weigh up cows sold on moderate to good demand for moderate offerings. Packers were more active this week as they

purchased both feeding and slaughter cows on moderate to good demand. Slaughter cows sold unevenly steady this week from 4.00 lower

to 3.00 higher. Notably, packers became more active as the week progressed. Feeding cows sold on moderate demand throughout the week

however fewer market participants and continued heavy supplies lent lower prices overall. Feeding cows sold steady to 3.00 lower. Slaughter

bulls sold mostly 1.00-2.00 higher in a narrow comparison. Young age cows suitable to re-breed sold mostly steady to 5.00 lower. Demand for

uniform load lots or partial load lots sold mostly steady. Demand for small packages and singles was limited this week and most of these

offerings sold lower. Quality this week was mostly average to attractive.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Montana barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
