Compared to last week, feeders sold 10.00 to 20.00 higher. Supply was light to moderate, but cooler weather for the first half of the week allowed some producers to feel better about moving a few cattle. Demand is good, although buyers are selective and discounts are being applied to the lighter weight calves without shots, weaning, or excessive hair, that come with a bit more risk. The cattle complex showed a bit of life again this week as most sectors of the market showed gains this week. A few replacement sales were noted to have very good demand with large crowds on hand and some very impressive prices for quality take home stock. Once again stick-out sales on drafts over 20 head mainly was heavier weight cattle. Joplin Regional Stockyards sold 31 head of 508 lb. steers for 480.00 and 62 head of 804 lb. steers for 362.00. Interstate Regional Stockyards sold 31 head of 608 lb. steers for 430.00. Windsor Livestock Auction sold 59 head of 690 lb. steers for 402.00. Callaway Livestock Center sold 68 head of 721 lb. steers for 388.00 Four State Stockyards sold 23 head of 766 lb. steers for 364.50. Green City Livestock Market sold 60 head of 893 lb. steers for 352.25, 61 head of 907 lb. steers for 351.00 and 66 head of 955 lb. steers for 337.75. Callaway Livestock Center sold 36 head of 525 lb. heifers for 455.00 Windsor Livestock Auction sold 73 head of 704 lb. heifers for 375.00. Boxed beef cut-out values closed the week higher. Choice closed at 364.36, up 2.98 and Select closed at 352.37, up 6.14 compared to last week. The choice/select spread is 11.99 per cwt. Negotiated feedlot sales as of the 2:00 cutoff time on Friday were reported near 102K head, the second largest week of the year so far. Prices were higher this week. Live sales reported mostly at 235.00 and dressed sales mostly 370.00. The Missouri Stocker formula consists of 2334 head with a weighted average weight of 550.29 lbs. and a price value of 437.02, 3.98 higher than last week. The steer/heifer is 38.16 per cwt.
