Compared to last week, feeders were extremely mixed with limit up or limit down futures several days lately local auctions have seen very different trends over the last couple of three weeks. Overall, this week however, the market was stronger, and feeders were generally steady to 5.00 higher. Early week sales saw much stronger markets and out weighted the lower trends that came late week. Over time auction barns are seeing equal gains and losses, but for producers who get one check a year and having no idea what volatility each day will hold it makes it very difficult to make marketing decisions. The supply was moderate to heavy with a few special sales taking places. The plus side currently is that even with the extreme volatility, prices are still historically high and even on an off day it is still not a complete disappointment, and likely the highest prices most producers have ever received. Stick out sales this week included 36 head of 424 lb. steers at MO- Kan Livestock Market that sold for 513.00, Ozarks Regional Stockyard sold 87 head of 520 lb. steers for 457.00. New Cambria Livestock Market sold 23 head of 554 lb. steers for 439.00. 45 head of 607 lb. steers at South Central Regional Stockyards sold for 413.00 and 26 head of 752 lb. steers brought 376.00. Four State Stockyards sold 67 head of 651 lb. steers for 408.00. Joplin Regional Stockyards sold 265 head of 739 lb. steers for 389.00. Callaway Livestock Center sold a load of 841 lb. thin steers for 370.75. Kingsville Livestock auction sold a load of 858 lb. steers for 355.50. Lolli Brother Livestock Market had a load of 907 lb. steers which sold for 344.25. New Cambria Livestock Auction sold 25 head of 540 lb. heifers for 429.00 and Tina Livestock Market sold a load of 719 lb. heifers for 351.00. Boxed beef cutout values closed lower for the week. Choice closed on Friday at 370.73, down 5.67 and select closed at 354.24, down 6.85 compared to last week. Negotiated feedlot sales as of the 2:00 cutoff time on Friday afternoons report came in just under 54K head. trade was scattered though the week, but bids and prices declined as the week went on. Live sales in the south were reported mostly 226.00-228.00, in the north ranged from 218.00-226.00 and dressed sales 350.00-355.00. The Missouri Stocker formula consists of 6995 head with a weighted average weight of 547.88 lbs. and a price value of 401.51, 1.87 higher than last week. The steer/heifer spread is 37.60.
