Compared to last week, feeders sold 5.00 to 10.00 lower. The supply of feeders was light to moderate, and demand was moderate. Many farmers are turned attention to spring field work this week. Fertilizer buggies at many co-ops were in short supply as farmers were spreading pastures and hay fields. Planting is going at a swift rate as farmers went to work getting corn in the ground. Several farmers have turned out to grass now especially in the south as cattle pretty much no longer want any hay even if it is rolled out for them. A few notable sales this week included a pkg of 431 lb. steers at Callaway Livestock Center that sold at 381.00. A pkg of 508 lb. steers at Ozarks Regional Stockyards which brought 353.00. A draft of 704 lbs. steers at Windsor Livestock Auction sold for 274.00 as well as a load of 812 lb. steers which sold at 256.50. Several loads of 700-750 lb. heifers at Kingsville Livestock Auction sold from 244.35-246.75. Boxed beef cutouts values were slightly higher for the week. Choice closed on Friday at 300.57, up 3.40 and select closed at 295.54, up 0.84 compared to last week. Negotiated feedlot sales as of the Friday afternoon report totaled about 69K head price levels were lower once again this week. Live sales were reported at 182.00-185.00 and Dressed sales at 293.00-295.00. The Missouri Stocker formula consists of 4,759 head with a weighted average weight of 534.39 lbs. and a price value of 307.80, 10.01 lower than a week ago. The steer/heifer spread is 37.93.
