Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold mostly steady to 3.00 lower, although there was some spots at a few local markets where higher money was evident. The supply of feeders was heavy with many auctioneers working late in the night before the hammer dropped on the final draft of the auction day. Demand was good as buyers want fill as many orders as possible prior to the year ending and the two week break a majority of the barns will take for the holidays. Several reporters noted very good demand for quality light weight steers under 500 lbs. Feed lot sales have been limited so far this week, as of this report, with live sales at mostly 119.00 and dressed sales at 188.00. Compared to last Friday boxed beef cutouts continued the downward slide with choice down 8.91 at 215.65 and select down 4.74 at 202.56 as of Thursday’s close. That makes the choice near 17.00 lower and the select near 10.50 lower for the month. Data released this week shows 2019 beef exports down 4.2 percent for the first 10 months of the year. This follows three years of double-digit year-over-year gains. Friday’s Missouri Stocker Formula consisted of 9583 head with a weighted average weight of 546.81 lbs. and a price value of 151.81, which is 2.31 lower than last Friday.
