Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold mostly 7.00 to 15.00 lower with exception of 500-700 lbs steers suitable for grazing steady to 4.00 higher. Demand was moderate to good, though buyers wanted to be in at lower prices than last week as CME futures have not been very friendly the past couple of weeks. Slaughter cows sold uneven; 2.00 lower to 3.00 higher, while slaughter bulls sold steady to 4.00 higher. Kansas negotiated fed cattle sales sold 5.00 lower at 235.00. In the hay market, hay movement has continued at a slow but steady pace. There has been a noticeable uptick in hay being transported on area roadways, with much of it believed to be headed toward wildfire relief efforts. Wildfires in southwest Kansas resulted in significant losses of cattle, forage, and grazing acreage. Adequate grass hay supplies are available statewide, with inventory positioned to assist producers in affected areas as recovery efforts continue. Overall, demand appears stable, with transportation patterns reflecting support for areas impacted by recent fires.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Kansas barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
