Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold 5.00 to 10.00 lower. Demand was moderate to good as everyone was bracing for Winter Storm Fern that blew into the state on Friday and into the weekend. Slaughter cows and bulls sold uneven; 2.00 lower to 2.00 higher. In the hay market, Hay movement during the past week remained slow but steady, with minimal change observed in overall market conditions. Producers across much of the state received some moisture during the reporting period, occurring as rain, snow, or a combination of both. Market participants continue to balance the decision between holding hay in storage in anticipation of improved prices and moving existing supplies to make room for the upcoming new crop.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Kansas barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
