Not enough sales this week to compare two weeks ago, however a higher undertone noted as the futures and fed cattle markets have improved since the last auction marketing week occurred. A Light test of Kansas negotiated fed cattle sales sold steady to 3.00 higher at 229.00 to 232.00, mostly 232.00. In the hay market, Hay movement remains steady and is expected to continue at a similar pace throughout the remainder of the year. Many producers are retaining hay inventories in anticipation of improved pricing next year rather than lowering prices to move supplies in the current market. Warmer than normal weather conditions have allowed livestock to remain on grass and wheat pasture, resulting in forage utilization below typical seasonal levels.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Kansas barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
