Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold mostly 3.00 to 7.00 higher, with instances up to 12.00 to 14.00 higher on 4-weight and 6-weight steers. Demand was good to very good. Slaughter cows sold steady to 1.00 higher while bulls sold 3.00 to 5.00 higher. Feedlot trading reported in Kansas sold 5.00 to 8.00 higher at 218.00, a record setting price for fed cattle in Kansas. This past week in the hay market, demand was light to moderate in the southwest and south-central regions, but light for all other regions. Trades also bumped up again with folks wanting to get rid of hay prior to the first cut. Prices were mostly steady, with only bales of grinding alfalfa falling, in the south-central region. Many contributing producers reported getting all their corn planted before, gratefully, receiving rain. Total amounts of rain varied between a trace to over three inches.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Kansas barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
