Compared to last week, steers sold unevenly steady. Heifers under 700 lbs sold steady to 1.00 lower while those over 700 lbs were 7.00 to 8.00 higher. Demand was moderate to good. Slaughter cows and bulls sold 2.00 to 4.00 higher. Feedlot trading reported in Kansas sold at 210.00 to 213.00. This past week in the hay market, , demand was light, but trade bumped up a bit. Prices were mixed. Producers state there was a bit more interest in purchasing hay last week but still had difficulty coming to an agreement on price. Many also reported that they had sold out of hay or had sold all they are going to for the year, with the anticipated dry summer approaching. Drought is taking its toll on the plants with reports of alfalfa and wheat stands going backwards. Pivots have already been fired in many areas out west for a while now.
