Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 700 lbs sold 12.00 to 14.00 higher; over 700 lbs sold 4.00 to 7.00 higher. Slaughter cows sold uneven; breakers and leans steady to 1.00 higher, boners 6.00 to 7.00 lower. Slaughter bulls sold steady to 2.00 higher. Demand was reported throughout the state as good. Compared to last week, fed slaughter steers and heifers in the feed yards sold 2.00 higher at 180.00. In the hay market, demand remains good, trade activity slow to moderate, and prices dropped significantly lower in the last two weeks for grinding alfalfa. However, there is an undertone demand has slowed, and trade activity is slow to moderate. Grinding alfalfa prices continue to soften while higher quality alfalfa has retained its value. Grass hay prices are steady to a touch higher. Some producers are having trouble putting up their second or third cutting, as all have struggled to put up hay without any rain on it. Low testing hay, therefore, is moving to the grinder market.

Head, weight ranges, average weights and price ranges are exactly as USDA AMS filed them — nothing recomputed, nothing rounded — in USDA's own reporting structure. This is RaisedBeef's rendering of that data, not a copy of USDA's document.
Source: USDA AMS, as filed — nothing recomputed and nothing rounded. This summary aggregates the same sales the Kansas barn reports cover, so it must never be added to a state total built from those barns.
