Compared to last week light steers less than 600 lbs sold sold 5.00 to 10.00 higher, 600 to 800 lbs sold steady to 5.00 lower, 800 to 900 lbs sold 10.00 lower. Heifers less than 600 lbs sold steady to 7.00 lower, 6 weights sold 8.00 higher and over 700 lbs sold 2.00 to 5.00 lower. Slaughter steers and heifers sold steady to 6.00 higher with the most advance on high grading cattle. Slaughter cows sold 2.00 to 5.00 lower and bulls steady. Demand was moderate to good throughout the week. Very good demand for replacement heifers with several groups selling by the head. Corn planted reached 76 percent 8 days ahead of last year and 3 days ahead of the 5-year average. Corn emerged reached 30 percent. Sixty-four percent of the expected soybean crop has been planted, 10 days ahead of last year and 5 days ahead of the 5-year average. Soybeans emerged reached 16 percent.
